NDSS Access Points
NDSS
NDSS is The National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS), an initiative of the Australian Government administered by Diabetes Australia. The NDSS delivers diabetes-related products at subsidised prices and provides information and support services to people with diabetes.
Many pharmacies are sub-agents for NDSS, which means that they can distribute NDSS products and the NDSS subsidised prices and provide some services on behalf of NDSS. This means if you are a NDSS member you can receive blood and urine testing strips and insulin pump consumables at subsidised prices. Free needles and syringes are also provided to registrants requiring insulin at these selected stores.
Registration for NDSS is free and open to all Australians diagnosed with diabetes. To register, you and your doctor must complete an NDSS registration form. This scheme is available to all Australian residents who hold a current Australian Medicare card and who have been diagnosed with diabetes by a medical practitioner.
