Prescriptions
The prices listed in the Prescription Price List are for private prescriptions, except where the product's description ends with (NHS). This indicates that these items are listed on the National Health Scheme and are available at the marked price if the doctor has provided a valid NHS prescription.
Further discounts are available on all these NHS products and many other items if the customer has a valid Federal Government concession card. These include: Pension, Health Care and Veteran Affairs cards, as well as CN and SN card holders.
Please call your nearest Discount Drug Store to check which items are covered by these concessions
Prescription Drugs are only available to people who have a valid prescription from a doctor. Always read the label. Use only as directed. Incorrect use could be harmful. Consult your healthcare professional if symptoms persist.
The Discount Drug Stores Price Matching Guarantee Policy does not apply to PBS subsidised prescriptions.
This is because any such prescriptions that are reduced in price below the government co-payment price are not PBS Prescriptions, and by law (the Health Act) they can only be dispensed at the lower price if the prescription is done as a private.
The consequences of these prescriptions being done as a private include:
-Payments made for the prescription will not contribute towards the PBS Safety Net.
-Any repeats issued as a private are then no longer valid to be done as a concessional, repatriation, general or safety net pharmaceutical benefit prescription if subsequently presented at an ‘approved’ pharmacy &
-You will be unable to obtain a refund from Medicare, for the amount paid over & above the gazetted PBS co-payment for a medicine, for prescriptions dispensed.
To ensure that you receive the full benefits of the PBS our Discount Drug Store pharmacy policy is to dispense according to the National Health Act.
