Charity Commitment

Community is an essential part of everything that we do at Discount Drug Stores – so we are proud to give back to the community and improve the health of Australians wherever we can.

Over the past seven years, Discount Drug Stores has raised over $372,000 for our national charity partners, Assistance Dogs Australia and Free To Be. We also provide regular support to fundraising events for multiple sclerosis, cystic fibrosis, and cerebral palsy research, and are always looking to widen our community outreach endeavours.

Thank you to everyone who has helped DDS fundraise to support these wonderful causes.

Assistance Dogs Australia is a national charity providing freedom and independence to people with disabilities. They train Assistance Dogs to perform a range of tasks for people living with disabilities, ensuring that an Assistance Dog is not only man’s best friend, but man’s most helpful friend too.

Every Assistance Dog undergoes tailored training to meet the individual needs of their new owner. We support people living with physical disabilities, autism, post-traumatic stress and dementia, as well as schools and care facilities.

Since 2012, Discount Drug Stores have sponsored 9 gorgeous Assistance Dogs – Dee Dee, Sunny, Bella, Parker, Coco, Zorro, Daisy, Ganan, and Scout.

Free To Be is a charity based in Kolkata, India, and aims to protect children in the community from vulnerabilities such as child labour, child marriage, and child abuse and exploitation. Free To Be works not only to provide a residential care facility for children in need, but also to address the root causes of these vulnerabilities within the community, by improving access to education, food security, and gender equality.

Along with financial support, Discount Drug Stores conducts an annual “Get a Shot, Give a Chance” campaign, with $2 from every flu vaccination conducted by DDS contributing toward vital education, and the vaccinations of children in Kolkata against diseases such as measles, hepatitis, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough and polio.
